Dog and Cat Licenses
Every dog and cat more than 3 months old should be licensed. The first license is issued when the dog or cat is vaccinated at 3 months old, and will be valid for 12 months.
A non-spayed and/or neutered dog or cat license is $75.00. The license is valid for 3 years. REQUIRED: Proof of current rabies vaccination.
A spayed or neutered dog or cat license is $18.00. The license is valid for 3 years.
REQUIRED: Proof of current rabies vaccination and proof of spay or neuter.A duplicate dog or cat license is $5.00.
New residents have 15 days from the date of their arrival to get their pets licensed.
When outdoors, dogs and cats shall be kept on a leash, in a fenced yard or tied to a stationary object so that the dog or cat cannot leave the owner’s property.

Newcastle Chicken Ordinance
Chicken Ordinance and Permit
Every resident who wants to own chickens inside city limits must have a chicken license. There can be no more than 6 chickens per lot. The permit will be issued after the Engineer or Building Inspector approves the permit.
All chickens must be Hens.
A permit fee of $20.00 must be paid with an application.
Permits are for 1 Year only. Must be renewed yearly if residents still have chickens.
